Multi-Cultural Weekend

The Multi-cultural Weekend is a three-day commemoration of the 1619 landing of the first enslaved African at the English settlement in Fort Monroe, present-day Hampton, Virginia. The African American Heritage Association will host this family-friendly weekend.

The Richmond weekend will come alive through events for residents and visitors. Over these days of remembrance, numerous activities will draw upon the diverse arts and music community and the abundance of living cultural heritage throughout the city. 

Activities will include the following:

Musical performances 

Cultural marketplace 

Spoken word performance 

Visual arts exhibits 

Traditional foods 

Hands-on arts and crafts demonstrations  

A walking and mobile tour of historic resources: monuments, museums, and galleries
